In your mid to late twenties, the production of collagen in your skin decreases. Collagen has many functions, including maintaining skin firmness and hydration. Once production decreases, signs of aging become visible. For boosting collagen production, one treatment that has proven successful is the vampire facelift.
At Vibrant Rejuvenation, we offer vampire facelifts to our patients. Learn all about the procedure and the benefits of a vampire facelift.
What Is a Vampire Facelift?
Vampire facelifts are non-surgical cosmetic procedures that use the regenerative properties of your own blood cells to help deal with signs of aging and other skin conditions.
The main component of a vampire facelift is platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Plasma is a part of your blood that contains special proteins that help your blood clot and promote cell growth.
With a centrifuge, we can separate the platelet-rich plasma from your blood and concentrate it. When we inject it into the treatment areas, we encourage cell growth and healing while boosting collagen production.
We can combine the PRP with a dermal filler to offer fullness to the treatment area.
At our center, we like to offer microneedling together with PRP injections, allowing your skin to absorb the substance more effectively and allowing us to treat a larger area.
A vampire facelift can help treat many skin worries, including the following:
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Acne scars
- Dull skin
- Thinning skin
The ideal candidate for a vampire facelift is someone with mild to moderate signs of aging, especially fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, nose, and mouth. This treatment can also help anyone who has noticed a loss of volume.
If your signs of aging are severe or if you have blood-clotting issues, you would likely benefit from an alternative treatment option.
Top Benefits of a Vampire Facelift
One of the top benefits of a vampire facelift is that it is non-surgical and minimally invasive. You don’t have to worry about a long recovery process.
This treatment option gets right to one of the causes of aging: the decrease in collagen production. By jump-starting this production, a vampire facelift can help you achieve better-hydrated skin while firming up the treatment areas.
When combined with microneedling, the collagen boost is even bigger because you are stimulating your body’s natural healing process with the tiny wounds the microneedling device makes on your skin.
A vampire facelift can also help even out your skin tone and texture. If you have mild redness or hyperpigmentation, microneedling together with a vampire facelift can help smooth out the tone and texture by stimulating new skin cells to grow.
How to Prepare for a Vampire Facelift
The first step to getting a vampire facelift is to schedule an appointment with our experts. We will assess the area you want to treat and see if this option is a good one for you. Come prepared to tell us about your medical history and whether you have had cosmetic procedures before, especially if you have had dermal fillers.
We also need to know about all of the medications and supplements you take. We suggest you stop taking any blood-thinning medications, including supplements like St. John’s wort and vitamin E, for at least a few days before your appointment.
If you want to include microneedling with a vampire facelift, you should stay away from abrasive skincare products like exfoliants and retinols for at least 48 hours before the procedure. We’ll also ask you to stay out of direct sunlight for a couple of days before the procedure.
The Vampire Facelift Procedure
On the day of your vampire facelift, don’t wear makeup, lotions, or creams to the appointment. To begin the procedure, we will take blood from your arm and run it through the centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma.
We will apply a numbing cream to the treatment areas, prepare the injections, and then begin the procedure. If you have chosen to add microneedling, we will likely apply the numbing cream to your entire face.
Your vampire facelift should not take more than 30 to 40 minutes. You can then return to your life without worrying about downtime.
Vampire Facelift Recovery
You may want to apply an ice pack to the treatment areas throughout the first day after the injections. If possible, avoid washing your face for the first 24 hours. You should also avoid anything that produces excess heat, like a sauna, bath, and direct sunlight.
Because we may use a filler with the PRP, heat can be detrimental to the hyaluronic acids that make up the fillers.
You also don’t want to rub, scratch, or otherwise touch your face. You have to allow the injected substances to settle.
Always use sunscreen when going outside.
The filler will offer immediate results, though the PRP effects can take longer. You should expect to see full results after between two and three weeks. For most people, results last as long as a year.
